SUPERFICTION'S SOLO EXHIBITION

2025.09.20-2025.10.24

As Superfiction’s first solo exhibition in China, Super Frame carries a dual meaning: it serves both as a structural “framework” tracing Superfiction’s creative evolution, and as a declaration of breaking through the cognitive boundaries implied by the word “Frame.”Rather than limiting itself to a specific period or medium, this exhibition gathers works across different series and forms, unified by their ability to clearly convey Superfiction’s creative philosophy. Through this diverse presentation, the story of Superfiction unfolds in its most representative visual language.

We hope this exhibition becomes a vessel for plural values — inviting viewers to break through the invisible boundaries of their own “frames,” and to re-examine the relationships between the self, the inner world, behavior, and society from multiple perspectives. Among the highlights, the two wooden sculptures “Not Mine” and “Split Face” mark a new narrative attempt by Superfiction in collaboration with artist Jeong Joo Im, depicting the tension and harmony between the self and the inner mind. When our inner selves multiply to the point of feeling overwhelmed, these works invite us to pause and reflect — which version of the “self” is truly leading us?

Meanwhile, “Field 1” and “Field 2” offer another response — exploring the relationship between the self and action. Each of us lives within our own unique field, facing unseen struggles. Yet, even so, we must take an active stance toward life, carving our own path forward. This embodies the exhibition’s central philosophy: a frame is not a constraint, but a point of growth.

The largest body of work in this exhibition, the “Social Duality Cards” series, keenly observes the dual nature of everyday life — showing how the same situation can appear positive or negative depending on one’s choices and perspective. Through this lens, Superfiction reveals the duality of social experience and gently challenges the invisible frameworks shaping our perceptions.

From the examination of social relationships to the introspection of the inner world, from familiar visual languages to experimental approaches, every work in this exhibition forms a fragment of Superfiction’s story — a medium for dialogue with everyday life. May this conversation, transcending boundaries and frames, offer you a truly personal and transformative experience.
